Research on Relationship between the Preparation for the Old age of the Baby Boomer Generation and their Successful Aging

Abstract

This research aims to introduce plausible explanation on the correlation between the Korean Baby Boomer Generation’s(1955~1963 born) retirement plan and Successful Aging in order to provide informative indication for the policy development. To create the database for the research, we have conducted the work by means of SPSS 18.0 with 216 responses collected out of 350 surveys originally distributed. The respondents consider the government, their children and themselves as the primary groups who are responsible for their economic, emotional and psychological support for their later days. It is been noted that emotional preparation, compared to economic or physical preparation, is more important and a better predictor for a Successful Aging. In conclusion, the Government and policy makers should focus on developing programs and policies for the Old generation’s emotional preparation.
